SOUTH JAKARTA DISTRICT COURT RULING
A panel of judges in South Jakarta District Court today ruled favorably for P.T. Newmont Minahasa Raya (PTNMR) in the civil case brought by the Indonesian Government. . . . "We are pleased that the judges recognized and enforced the Government's commitment to us to resolve disputes as agreed in PTNMR's Contract of Work," said Robert Gallagher, Vice President Indonesia Operations.

In Manado Court today PT Newmont Minahasa Raya (PT NMR) and its President Director Rick Ness were indicted for allegedly causing pollution in Buyat Bay. "We are well prepared and will defend all allegations in court and show that no unlawful acts were committed by either the company or Rick Ness" said Luhut Pangaribuan, attorney for PTNMR.

Today, Richard B. Ness, President Director of PT Newmont Minahasa Raya (PT NMR) appeared in South Jakarta District Court for a judicial review of the Supreme Court decision which overturned an earlier court decision that ruled jailing of the five for 32 days (22 September – 23 October 2004 ) was illegal.
